You’re Not Overwhelmed — You’re Doing Too Much That Doesn’t Feel Like You
The other day I caught myself saying, “I’m just tired.”
And for a second, I believed it.
Too much to do. Too many responsibilities. Too many things on my plate.
But when I actually stopped and looked at it... it wasn’t the amount.
It was the weight.
Not physical weight. Not even time.
The kind of weight you feel when you’re doing things that don’t feel like you anymore.
⸻
THE KIND OF TIRED SLEEP DOESN’T FIX
There’s exhaustion that doesn’t come from doing a lot.
It comes from doing things that feel off.
Things you’ve outgrown.
Things you said yes to a long time ago and never questioned again.
Things you keep doing because “that’s just how it’s done.”
And no one really talks about this part.
We’re so used to thinking overwhelm means we need better time management, more discipline, or a new routine.
But sometimes... it has nothing to do with that.
Sometimes you’re not overwhelmed.
You’re just misaligned.
⸻
WHY WE KEEP DOING WHAT DOESN’T FEEL RIGHT
Because let’s be honest.
It’s not always easy to change.
You start asking yourself:
Will this disappoint someone?
Are people going to think I’m different?
What happens if I stop being the person everyone is used to?
And that’s where most women stay stuck.
Not because they don’t know what to do.
But because they know... and they don’t want to deal with the ripple effect.
So we stay.
We keep showing up in ways that don’t feel like us.
And little by little, we start feeling heavy in our own lives.
⸻
THIS IS WHERE SELF-AWARENESS CHANGES EVERYTHING
Midlife has this way of showing you what no longer fits.
Not loudly. Not dramatically.
Quietly.
In your body.
In your energy.
In that feeling of resistance you can’t ignore anymore.
And this is where most people either lean in... or check out.
Because self-awareness is simple, but it’s not always comfortable.
It asks you to be honest.
To notice where you’re forcing things.
To admit that some parts of your life don’t feel aligned anymore.
Not because anything is “wrong.”
But because you’ve changed.
⸻
YOU DON’T NEED TO BURN YOUR LIFE DOWN
This is the part I want you to really hear.
You don’t need to quit everything.
You don’t need to make a dramatic decision overnight.
That’s not how real, lasting change works.
What actually shifts things is something much simpler.
You start asking better questions.
What can I stop doing?
What can I do differently?
What can I make lighter?
What actually feels aligned for me now?
And then... you act on one thing.
Not everything.
Just one.
⸻
THE SHIFT THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING
Every time you ignore that internal nudge, you move a little further away from yourself.
But every time you listen to it?
You start coming back.
And it doesn’t just change how you feel.
It changes how you move.
What you say yes to.
What you tolerate.
What you allow in your life.
That’s where real transformation happens.
Not in doing more.
In doing what actually fits who you are now.
⸻
A SMALL INVITATION FOR THIS WEEK
Take a moment today.
Not to fix your whole life.
Just to notice.
Where are you doing things out of habit?
Where are you carrying something that no longer feels like yours?
And what’s one thing you can make lighter this week?
Start there.
That’s how you come back to yourself.
⸻
If this resonated, I’d love to hear what came up for you.
And if you’re in that space where you’re starting to see things differently, but you don’t want to figure it out alone... this is exactly the kind of work I do privately.
No pressure. Just know it’s there.
With love, always...
