Your Space Holds Memory
The other day, while clearing out my closet, I realized how much of my space was holding onto versions of me that no longer exist.
Clothes I haven’t worn in years.
Drawers filled with “just in case” things.
Shelves stacked with pieces of my past that I wasn’t quite ready to let go of.
It wasn’t really about the stuff.
It was about the stories.
That dress I loved when I was 30.
The shoes I wore during a season of my life that broke me open.
The scarf I kept because it reminded me of who I used to be.
Every piece was quietly whispering:
Remember me. Remember her.
And yet, I am no longer her.
Here’s the truth: space holds memory.
When we cling to objects that no longer belong to us, we unconsciously anchor ourselves to old identities.
We keep circling the past, even when our soul is asking us to step into the future.
Clearing space isn’t just about organizing.
It’s about honoring who you were — while making room for who you’re becoming.
Every time you let go of something, you’re not just tossing out an old sweater or a pair of heels.
You’re saying:
Thank you for serving me.
Thank you for reminding me of that chapter.
But I no longer need to carry this version of me.
This is how letting go becomes sacred.
Space is not just emptiness.
Space is inspiration.
Space is invitation.
Space is a mirror reflecting back who you are now.
And the more space you create, the more possibility you invite.
So the next time you open a closet, a drawer, or a cabinet, pause and ask yourself:
Does this reflect the woman I am today?
Or am I keeping it because I’m afraid to let her go?
Letting go is not loss. It’s becoming. It’s breathing space into your future.
Your space is always speaking. What is it saying about who you were — and who you’re ready to become?
